Hey guys. I've been messing with the deck for a while. I need some help. I went with an Upper Guard Lower Attack theme here. Let me know what you think. Please share any ideas or suggestions. Deck size: 70 cards PRE-GAME CARDS: - Generic Immortal Pre-Game Persona. (One with Anthony Gallen, the actor Roddy Piper on the front of the card) Game text: You do not have to include the Basic Attacks and Defenses, but you must include at least 9 Attacks and six Blocks in your deck. You may include up to 3 Master cards in your deck. - Generic Immortal Pre-Game +1 Ability (This is the MLE virtual version. I know its not tournament legal. There isn’t a 1st or 2nd edition version of a Generic Immortal +1, that I know of:-) MASTER CARDS (3): - 3X MASTER SWORDSMAN (Special Attack / Defense) SPECIAL CARDS (23): - 1X Extra Weapon (Object) - 1X Illusory Terrain (Situation) Remove any location - 3X Dugal MacLeod (Situation) Keep Guard up - 3X Advance Warning (Situation) Discard to retrieve a defense - 3X Security Guard (Situation) Protect a Situation - 1X Watcher (Event) Get back 2 Ability - 1X Misfortune (Event) Remove any Object - 2X Police (Event) Remove any Situation - 2X Holy Ground (Event) Avoid all attacks, both players shuffle their hand and redraw - 2X Head Shot (Event) - 4X Hasty Retreat (Event) Discard 3 cards to play a dodge or block that can’t be played (Black Raven card) DEFENSES (22) - 1X Duck (Dodge) – Duncan Macleod - 1X Duck (Dodge) – Connor Macleod - 1X Duck (Dodge) – Kronos - 1X Jump (Dodge) – Amanda - 1X Back Away (Dodge) – Cassandra - 1X Back Away (Dodge) – Xavier St. Cloud - 1X Back Away (Dodge) – Slan Quince - 1X Back Away (Dodge) – Luther - 2X Lower Guard (Block) - 6X Upper Guard (Block) - 1X Upper Left Block - 1X Upper Center Block - 1X Upper Right Block - 3X Lower Center Block ATTACKS (22) - 2X Upper Left Attack - 2X Upper Center Attack - 2X Upper Right Attack - 5X Lower Right Attack - 6X Lower Center Attack - 5X Lower Left Attack

Doesn't look very aggressive to me, but that would be my opinion. I would drop this kind of deck down to 50-55 cards, and then add a combo to accentuate what you are pushing for. You are doing a lot as far as tool box and equalizing card type count, but I fear those two factors are taking away from a theme with a punch.

Thats great input, thanks. Do you have a suggestion for a combo? I'm having a brain fart on that one:-)

I'd have to get my cards to be sure, but, I think Kurgan's Master's headshot is not reserved. If it isn't then that is a great card for you.
You might want to try and look for some more versitile dodges. Fitz's Duck from 2nd ed isnt' bugged and that will get you a card back into your endurance. Richie's duck does the same think, but, I think his is reserved. Ramirez's duck ignore locations which can be helpful. I think the basic "you can play hidden" dodges are a little weak.
Luther got a 2/3 full grid defense in the last set. There's lots of good stuff in 2nd ed that is playable in 1st end. Take a look at the spoilers for some ideas. I had a pretty comprehensive list of quality cards for generics in 2nd ed, but, not sure where it is now.
If I get some time I might try to redo it.

My 2nd ed shortlist (i think all are playable in 1st ed)
Corda - dodge ... combines with Reno - dodge ... to give you a full grid dodge, and a little vapor Fitz - Duck ...returns a card from your discard to endurance Fitz - Trip ....same as duck but drops opponent's standing d's Ramirez - Duck ... ignores locations Ramirez - Slash ....requires a 2/3 grid lower defense to defened Kurgan or Grayson - Duck (free power blow, if you want to get ulta aggressive) Richie - Lunge (reduce your opponent to basic d's) Richie - Quick Learner searcher Mako - Lawful Strike (unblockable/undodgeable) Amanda Pickpocket ... chance to look at hand to discard or possibly steal an item Mako -Extra Shot .... vapor + extra attack Mako - Trip .... vapor + drop their standing d's YDK - Combination Duncan - Leg Sweep ... can make next attack undodgeable Blaine - Improvised weapon ... same as Leg Sweep but upper grid Slan - Overpower ... Unblockable + prone (combines with either of the last two cards very well) Slan - Follow up (extra attack with possible undodgeable) Grayson - Exta Shot ... i've gotten off 5 attacks with it, which takes 5 off the top of your opponent's endurance Kurgan or Katana - Dirty Trick ... 2 grid unblockable attacks to make your opponent prone
There are plenty more for sure, but, I can't think of any more at the moment

Also.........if you're using the rrp generic......then usually you want to take advantage of using other attacks/blocks instead of the basics
For example
2 Generic Slash upper 1 Ramirez Slash 1 Kurgan Dirty Trick 1 Gen Katana Dirty Trick 1 Duncan Leg Sweep 1 Blaine Improvised Weapon 1 Amanda Pickpocket 1 Slan Overpower
That makes your 9 attacks
Master's Swordsman counts for 3 of your blocks so now you only need 3 more.
That lets you play a much tighter deck, and it's a fairly solid start for something that is well rounded.

I have used this persona in several generic tournaments and have done well. I would play the Circle and not include any Dodges, or just 2 or 3 Dodges to get away from Ranged attacks. If ranged Attacks are used a lot in your area alkso use the 2e Sheild to block them.
I would use the 1e Rapier so you get 2 attacks a turn and the 1e Kronos Extra Shot, the 1e Martin Hyde Combination and 1e Annie Devlin Extra Shot so you would then get 3 attacks and your opponent must block each attack separately.
Also include some Alertness(block/dodge), Recon and Focus to get around your opponents tricks.

That's why I was able to run it off the generic that allows you to play reserved cards from other immortals. And thank you

Thats great input, thanks. Do you have a suggestion for a combo? I'm having a brain fart on that one:-) All I can suggest on the combo request is to read the cards and find one suitable to what your theme is, otherwise I would be giving out ideas from Prowler's and my "secret tech".

That soap box? Seriously... Richis is "super" generic immortal and he doesnt win tournaments. Generic Immortals just dont win. They might get a victory every now and then against Kanwulf or Caspian or Nakano, but they dont win tournaments. Why? Because they suck. Unless your doing a generic immortal only tournament, pick an immortal.
