Does anyone have a deck list for the available beta starter decks? How many different starters are there? Basically, I want to know if its pointless to buy a box of starters, or if I should just go with booster boxes. Thanks.

I think that there are 25 fixed cards in each starter. 9 Basic Attacks and 6 Basic Blocks. and 10 other cards. The remainder are greared toward the personna or the Weapon of Choice card in the starter. It is not pointless. You do not get some cards in the Boosters. The fixed cards are only available in the starters.

You definately need to buy some starters. If I had to rebuild my collection from scratch, I'd buy a box of starters. A final reason to buy starters is that the Amanda starter is the only place anyone has pulled Amanda Steals.

Some boosters have shown up in the later batches with Amanda Steal, but a starter with an Amanda persona in it is almost guaranteed to have one. Starter have the fixed card in them, which means that if you want to play the game then you actually have to buy at least one starter. (Or find a guy like me who sells the fixed cards - www.thorrsoldhammers.com . (Shameless plug I know) The remaining contents of the starter decks is random, but it will have at least one pregame card if not 2. There will be a persona or WoC in it (or both). Typically, the starter will also have a fair amount of support cards for the included pregame. It's not guaranteed, but the chances are quite good. I agree with ummyeah that a great way to go would be to buy at least one box of starters and then a few boxes of boosters. (Shamless plug #2 - I have a box of starters, but am sold out of boosters)

I still have my entire collection of 1ed. Countless basic attacks and blocks as well as complete sets of most expansions. Would I be better off, considering this, to buy just one or two starters and a box of boosters, or are there just some cards I can only get from starters?

The Fixed starter cards are only available in Starter boxes. Your 1E collection won't help you in the 2E rules environment, so if you plan to play using 2E rules then you should get a few starters.
If you look in my spoiler lists (in the links column on the right) you will see cards that have a rarity of F. Those cards are Fixed cards and can only be found in starters.

Ok. I completely misunderstood the compatibility. I thought the basic attack and blocks and some of the other 1ed cards would work. ... Looks like I'm buying a box of starters as well =P
Thanks guys.

You are not guaranteed to get an Amanda steal in Amanda starters. I have opened 2 boxes of starters and got 4 amanda decks but still no steals!! I got 2 Amanda charms in each deck instead (oh joy) :'(Together with 8 boxes of boosters I still haven't pulled one.
If anyone has any for trade ...sale LMK

The Amanda Steals didn't show up starters until the second printing batch. But once that batch hit the shelves, all the Amanda starter decks had the Steal card. That was why I bought 2 boxes of starters long after I had most of the cards already. It worked out like I had hoped and I got 3 steal cards out of them.

My brother must have ended up with a batch from a previous printing. He just bought a box last week, got an Amanda starter, but no Steal. Oh well, he's still having fun playing her with the Rapier as an attack deck. Side note, be sure to play at least 1 Misfortune. He was playing my Slan deck, I put out Facemask, and he realised only 6 of his 20+ attacks could even damage me ;D Pretty soon it was

Heh, sometimes its a bad idea to stack your attacks in the upper grids.
