I applied also. Any idea how long it takes them to get back with you about it? I would like to try and start getting events planned now, that and it's hard to convince a shop to carry the game when you don't know if you're going to be authorized to do demo's and tournaments for them as support.

Well since I've still heard no answer about being a city rep. Nor has another person in the area who also applied I guess I know the answer here.
If they don't want to support somebody wanting to be a rep then I won't support their game. Tomorrow I will advise the local shops that there will evidently not be a person in the area to run tournaments or demos for the company. Both shops were holding off ordering the game until they knew somebody would be running it here.
Very disappointing.

Tomorrow I will advise the local shops that there will evidently not be a person in the area to run tournaments or demos for the company. The slow deployment and difficulty in obtaining product is frustrating and it seems that some fingers need to be pulled out, but don't you think you're being a bit hasty? Perhaps a bit more jumping up and down could be in order before applying the Pistol ranged attack to the game at the local stores I do hope that the City Reps are replied to promptly as this is a key part of tournaments being run, and in addition to stores stocking the cards, until tournaments are running locally it would silly for me (as an example) to buy any cards beyond a few for curiousity (where are those demo decks!). The makers of this game have an opportunity to tap the market and (better than expected) good will of the former players and stockists of 1st ed, they will drive and spread the game to new players. I would suggest that some overtime and/or temporary employees may be urgently required if the tasks required to appropriately launch the game aren't getting done, because the moment is now.

Keep in mind that what we've got right now is a game in its beta test stages. If they don't have anything p and running by the time the "real" cards are out then I'd be concerned. And don't take it personal, nobody (AFAIK) has yet to be contacted about being a rep. As a fan of the game who wants it to continue, I can only say please don't shoot the game in the foot for your area by turning away stores.
And from my moderator voice: let's please try to refrain from personal attacks here. People are understanably upset, and there are better ways to help them calm down then by telling them to "grow up."

The official tournament scene will not be in full gear until March when the Ramirez edition is released and the game is out of Beta and all the kinks are worked out. We are working on getting with each person that wants to help run tournaments and promote the game. The Nexus League has not yet been ironed out and there are some online functions that we need available before we can jump right into the city rep program. Trust me, everyone that has responded will be getting contacted as soon as we're capable of supporting organized play the right way.

Supporting tournaments, even if it is unofficial in Beta, is important to drive the spread, sale and especially the playtesting of the game. I'm itching to play but the only way I can play is via tournaments so until my card store is able to stock it and run tournaments (with some sort of support) I'm stuck.
As much as this game is "Beta", isn't the Beta set actually a unique set, unlike a game such as Magic where Revised is really a modified Beta? Are we still going to be able to buy Beta through normal channels when Set 1 is out?
In my opinion, you should contact the city rep applicants promptly with an update in the least so that they aren't just left waiting and wondering.

The City Reps page says: "We have full prize support starting on December 15th."

Just pointing out that the original stated intention was to have prize support from the start of Beta, not Set 1. City Rep applicants would have reasonably expected to have been contacted and not be waiting until the official tournaments are organized. The following statement also on that page adds weight to this (my italics):
"Our official Highlander 2E league program begins March 1st. Until then we invite you to run tournaments, give us feedback about the game and the prize packages and how we can improve them before league kickoff."

Give it all enough time to work out . I realize we live in a world of instant gratification but I believe McMurray is right ,give it time .

Lang and I have discussed this topic before - though it isn't clear he understands it any better than before. Gratification - instant or otherwise - has nothing to do with it. The fact that the team has missed their own deadline - even though they clearly have done that too - is not the problem.
The problem is that they are introducing a new CCG product line and it needs local support and should be expanding upon the initial wave of interest its (re)introduction generated to bring in the old core of loyal TCG/SAEC fans as well as create a new base of fans.
The time to do that was in December with local tournaments and company sponsored events when it was re-introduced in the initial Beta set. Now is too late and by March 1st there is a good chance there won't be enough fan support or consumer interest - even using the lower fixed costs of POD printing - for there to be a Set 1 (Ramirez).
Without local city reps there isn't any fan base growth riding the crest of interest created by the initial release. What you are left with is essentially an extension of the MLE fan concept with a POD printer instead of internet based virtual cards supporting a small hardcore group of fans.
Lang and I are old friends who occasionally disagree and the opinions I express are purely my own...
