So this thread is going to be discussing Martin Hyde. I have been looking at his cards recently, and it's obvious that he is about hand size, as well as manipulating Masters cards, both yours and your opponent's. He has a decent hilt if you use Arms and Tactics weapon meld. "Your opponent must discard a Master's card to play a Master's card". I think it is actually better than average band maybe top tier if your deck can make it work for you. Now with that being said I know a lot of powerful defenses both blocks, and dodges, are in fact Master's cards, and he does have options of making your opponent discard all of their Master's cards as well as take damage for each discarded. His Master's Attack isn't bad, especially if you play it after you make your opponent discard all of their Master's Cards because his Master's Attack says that it cannot be defended from their hand unless that defense is a Master's card. So that in and of itself seems pretty good on paper, but we all know something that looks good in theory can be awful in practice.
Martin Hyde seems decent, maybe even potentially dangerous if built the right way, but what to do with him? Okay, he has his ranged pistol shots, not bad, but not amazing. We can see his gimmick pretty easily, manipulating Masters cards, but what to do with that exactly? Is the goal to just boost your hand size, make your opponent ditch their Master's cards, but what is his offense really? I have been struggling with trying to find a way to go on the offensive with him. Yes, making your opponent ditch their master's cards is pretty awesome, but if you can't do anything to hit them hard after you've pulled that off a couple turns you seem to be stuck in the mud. I have only played against a Martin Hyde deck one time, and it was a long time ago, I don't remember anything too special about it. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great, kinda in the middle.
It seems like there is something to Martin Hyde though, I keep looking at his cards and they're really not bad, I just kinda struggle with putting his offense together. Maybe using certain Locations, or Situations would boost him up, or maybe he is a cheese deck with direct damage? Not sure about the cheese with Martin Hyde, doesn't really seem to be there, but I don't know.
If anyone has any ideas or thoughts on Martin Hyde please feel free to share them, like I said I have never really encountered a solid strong Martin Hyde deck, and I have looked through the forum and haven't really seen anyone talk about him at all.
Anyway, ideas and suggestions are welcome!
