For example..
Player A ...
- already has Nexus already out but not yet used.
- used Retrieval effect to search deck and grabs a card into their hand plays an object
Player B ... is using the Single Handed Bastard Sword with the Removal effect, - plays Misfortune to remove the object - then wants to use the Removal effect from the SHBS to remove the object from the game,
But... Player A snaps Nexus to try to keep the object from being removed.
Who has priority?

Single-Handed Broadsword Pre-Game (RAVEN014) The Raven Set Fixed Type Grid Restrictions Gems Weapon of Choice [Hand] [Agility][Agility][Agility] Text The Single-Handed Broadsword is a term used in more modern times to describe certain swords of the medieval period. The Knightly Sword, or Arming Sword, fell out of favor around the 15th Century as larger swords came in to fashion. The sword evolved into the Spada da lato (side sword), to be used as a backup weapon. These weapons later influenced the modern Rapier and the Epee.
UPSIDE: If your opponent used a Retrieve effect last turn, you may Remove the top card of your opponents Discard Pile from the Game, regardless of effect.
DOWNSIDE: You take three damage when blocking a Power Blow and one damage when making a Power Block.

In that scenario (nexus has been in play) retrieving effect used last turn - I would say the broad sword player has priority.
Few reason for that - the only response cards are edges and rips Single broad sword was designed specifically to kill cheese retrieving. In essence this is a must do/may do effect - but active player (one who removed the object with single broad sword) determines the order. Just as during your own may do must do phase you can move cards around with say Jacob Kael or others to avoid damaging items or discard.
That is how I would rule that - I think I have it close to correct - if not please set me straight

Your question goes into other area that I know the team was trying to address. Cards on your opponents turn
Nexus and few others are currently allowed to be used on opponents turn. Thoughts on that being change to on your turn only (to be done even as early as May do must do) avoids that concern. Very few cards in the game have the ability to be used (sacrificed, removal) during your opponents turn. Turning them all into May do must do effects might clear up the confusion

i think that the person with the NExus (Player A) must use it right then and there after the object is removed. regardless if Player B was going to remove or not. If Player B says to remove the object, it's too late.(which runs into timing, like how long is the wait? etc etc, if it's that important to not get removed, then it needs to be saved immediately)
yeah. if just remove all out-of-turn, it does clear up many other problems.
but in case of the SHBS, it's anti-cheese that can go a bit overboard. there are other ways to punish besides removal from game completely. it makes all the MCBC meaningless, it makes basics removable - which i don't think should be a thing. should not be able to remove basics. they need to have some "worth" instead of getting as much of them substituted out by pg crystals as possible.
you might have every card removed, but not your basics.
anyhow.. we may never play again.! until someone decides to program it all!
