I really don’t know why everybody is getting upset at endgame. I realize old timers are not liking it that us newtimers. don’t know what every card does so we have to read and think as we play. Not all of us are intentionally stalling. You all are talking about speeding it up, which I see both sides of it. But I see that also hurting newbies some more. Just my 2 cents.

I’m just returning to the game after 5 years away. A lot of cards and rules have been changed in that time, and I’m working to get back up to speed. Part of that has been reading up on the end game issues both on here and over on Facebook. It seems to me that if people are stalling to get to end game, then the move is to remove end game. There are 1000s of cards now. Most people (old and new) will not know them all. They need to know that they can take a moment to read the card and ask a question. I have noticed that even without stalling, games tend to drag on with all the current cards. Perhaps we need to find a way to reward people for taking more chances somehow. Or maybe we need to address the defensive capabilities of the characters. Perhaps adding additional restriction numbers to the majority of 9 grid dodged and blocks or increasing their attribute cost. I would also think that eliminating cards that allow you to exhaust for less or free would add back in a sense of urgency to the game.
Anyway just my 2 cents as I return from My vacation on Holy Ground.

The problem isn't with a player reading a few cards ttheir opponent played, the problem is when a player literally takes 5 minutes per turn. I'm more concerned with improving Endgame so that we can stay within prescribed timeframes. Many of us play in venues with schedules. If we only have 4 hours, we should have no problem running 4 rounds at 30 minutes each. But somehow each round takes a hour or more.

Well I will tell you it is not your play or any one persons play really. This has been a issue since highlander instituted the endgame system. But it is upsetting to loose at endgame because the opponent is not beating you by playing. They are beating you using a game mechanic that you literally have no control over. It is immensely frustrating to be in a position where you know your deck is the better deck and can beat the opponent if only given the rounds but instead get beaten because you went first. THis is something I have railed against as long as I have been playing with end game. Not knowing the cards is legit, I dont know half the cards now. BUT any player should know the cards in their own hand, what they do, and should be thinking about what they are going to be playing even before the other player has finished their turn. No one should gain advantage by playing slow even if they are not doing it intentionally. Considering the size of most tournaments I think that endgame should be removed from the tournaments for any tournament that is half a bracket or less. For ones over as I mentioned before I would like to see chess clocks and an amount of time allocated to people. Then end game would only hurt those that put the game into end game.
