Hello, I'm back in Pittsburgh for the holidays and I finally decided to dig out a bunch (really, "bunch" is an undersell) of my old cards. I'm currently living in the Monterey, CA area and I'm gonna bring a few old 1E decks back and see if I can get anyone to play at my local game store ( Mythic Games). I don't drive but if you're in the bay area or somewhere relatively close by feel free to contact me anyway; I might be able to figure something out. If nothing comes of it I'll probably just ship out my collection to someone who'll actually use it. There's 5-6 complete tournament caliber decks and probably close to 1000 loose rares, promos, WC series edition reprints, and Duncan & Methos collection cards. I'm not bringing all of that back with me but if someone's interested let me know.

I'm afraid the Sacramento and Santa Barbara players packed it in some time back. Our smallish group is in Burbank CA and play generally once per month. It would be great to see the game resurge in NorCal but not likely to happen. Sorry I can't give better news on the California Highlander situation. BTW I remember a version of that Fasil deck you posted, some dude down here was playing something similar back in the day. I recall it being about 50-50 against Duncan Machine and Fitz Fast Talk. If you didn't play one of the three, you probably lost.

Yeah, I kinda figured. I go there to play board games but it's a big Magic store so I figure even if I can get a few regulars there to play every once in a while it's better than nothing. I'll more than likely be in that area for the next few years so maybe someone sees this down the road. I do have an aunt in Burbank that I visit once in a while so I'll keep that in mind.
The nice thing was a lot of the Methos and Duncan decks at the time (read: 70% of players in every tournament at least in Western PA/Ohio area) weren't headhunters. So when you went in with a straight head shot deck a lot of the Methos/Duncan cheese players weren't ready for hard to defend head shots turn after turn; Once they burned break glass and a couple alertness, focus, and recons you could see them get a little nervous. I remember having trouble with a nef/unforseen event deck too. Still took her head but it was a huge pain in the ass.

Our regional events were at a store in Sacramento, I think called Adventures in Comics and Games or something like that. The regional rep was Randall something. Not sure if he's still around or not, I think the store is still there but I haven't been there in years.
Methos was the big thing when it came out, but not a lot of our locals wanted to buy 2 tins. Those who did had a near unkillable deck, and I had my first regional champ deck. Methos didn't always win, but I can't recall a head shot against him.

I actually once built a Methos deck with the explicit purpose of head shotting other Methos decks. It worked from time to time but it took some luck and, yeah, three Live Forevers and two Secret ID's?!? I only complain about the secret ID's because it was a discard/hand lock deck.

Add in a smattering of Holy Ground and he will live forever. BTW we run our regional events in May/June. We usually run one of each event, Type 1, T2, 2HG, L&M (2ED), and Plot/Hilt. The dates are kind of open until April, but each event is free to play and held at Emerald Knights Comics and Games in Burbank. If you have a legal T1 deck and are in town, you're welcome to stop by and beat Lex and David. If you have a trip planned let me know and maybe we can run an event or two that Sunday. Really the only day of the week available at the store. Normally we run, as our monthly event, Type 2 constructed. One of our players hates 2HG (looking at lex ) and one despises L&M. Type 2 is pretty much the wanted format so that's what we play. I've been trying unsuccessfully to get a Type 1 group culled from our Facebook friends, but no one can make the time.

The next chance I would have to stop down there would be spring break which without looking I have no clue what those exact dates are. I know my semester ends around the end of May so that might be a plan. As things get closer I can give you a better idea. June should be easy to do as long as I'm still in town. My grant money only lasts about ten months in Monterey so I'm kicking around the idea of coming back east again for the summer. Maybe I'll see if I can crash at my aunts in Burbank for a month or so instead .
