So I have to start by saying that I love 2nd Edition and the "gem" system. Good job!
But what is the end-game (no pun intended)?
The company can create a lot of immortals and produce them in "vs" sets. But...
1. Players will only buy/collect the immortals they like. 2. The vast array of immortals is daunting to new players. 3. If the business model is truly a "living card game" format, we need a base set that will help new players. 4. The more I delve into 2nd edition, the balance it originally had, is being threatened by some truly "broken" combos. This is even more likely to scare off new players.
Keep in mind, I love this game, but without new players coming into the fold, this game will die.

I disagree that the game will die, it hasn't yet and the last supporting media was the abortion we know as 'The Source'. Frankly since 1st ED was cancelled the game has been produced for really the core players who have played since the 90's and will likely play till THEIR 90's. As far as a base set, you might message Dallis and ask if he has any '3rd Edition' Generic sets available. Full runs of toolbox as well as a nice mixing of Watcher/Hunter. I agree that for any new or returning players there needs to be a generic toolbox set readily available, but Bakers Online Store has them all. Little or no growth doesn't kill a small press game as long as the dedicated continue to support sales, but few games grow unless there is media behind it.

What do you see as broken combos? We try to keep an eye on such things and fix them when we can. If you see something or have a concern, please share.

Yes please send along some broken combos, so I can surprise Lex at our next event. BTW, don't get too caught up in the label 'living card game'. The best decision the design team made in years was to go with the vs deck format. I don't think in this format customers will only buy the Immortals they like. The price point is attractive to people like me who didn't realize Alex Raven was female till I saw the box art.

kurganfan You only need to know one broken combo that you will see next event.... This deck can kill in a mere 13 turns with the perfect draw, 24 turns otherwise (and that's if I don't get DQ'ed before the game begins). One word; Damon Case. ...and I didn't know there was a chick in the latest VS. set? You mean those aren't both dudes?! WTH! And for the love of baby Jesus, fix your phone!!! I will have to start calling Dallis or Prowler in the middle of the night with ideas if you don't get it fixed.
