Humor me...
"While on the Battlefield each player must discard a defense card at the beginning of his turn or he takes 1 damage."
Is this a CHOICE, or a MUST DO?

"While on the Battlefield each player must discard a defense card at the beginning of his turn or he takes 1 damage." Yea, that's how I've always played it too... but I've been in tournaments where the judge said it was a CHOICE In other words, the judge allowed a player to sandbag the defense card, and elect to take the 1 damage instead

You have to remember also that in the old days May Do/Must Do took some time to be understood in all areas. There were many aspects of the game played incorrectly back then. If this board would have existed then and the company employed GOOD rules people the entire time things would have been better.

I started playing in 1996, so I know EXACTLY what you're saying I also had another judge tell me that super Alertness dodge didn't work in The Circle

I recall the good ole days when some TO's elected to use 'house rules' based on player vote, majority rules etc. I always hated those good ole days, you never knew what interpretation of the rules was going to be enforced. I always felt that if TO's would take the time to actually READ the cards, there would be fewer misunderstandings of the words 'may' and 'must'. Just my opinion....
