Hello All!
So we played a back to basics tournament again this week. Excitement abounded as the contestants once again gathered on Anapamu to do battle with only weapons of choice and personas at their disposal for pregame. This time around the players were as follows:
Brian- Kastagir
Cat- Corda and Reno
Chris- Nefertiri
Jon- Ramirez
Luke- The Kurgen
Ryan- Duncan
Wilson- Mako
Round 1
Brian def. Luke
Wilson def. Jon
Cat def. Ryan
Chris- Bye
In this round I played against Luke playing the Kurgen. This was Luke's first 2ed Highlander tournament and he had me on the run for a while when early on he got in a 5 point hit with an Ambush. In the end, however, my guards did their job and kept me safe from his hacking power blows.
Round 2
Brian def. Chris
Wilson def. Cat
Luke def. Ryan w/ a HEAD SHOT!
Jon- Bye
This time I was playing Chris as Nefertiri. This was a grueling match up with Chris and I both getting in some damage here and there. Despite Chris seducing the pants off me every chance he got, I did manage to pull out a very close victory when I hit a back away against his master's attack on the river. At this point we were both at one and end game had been called. It was the end game damaged that finished him off in the end.
Round 3
Brian def. Wilson
Chris def. Luke
Jon def. Cat
Ryan- Bye
In the final round I was once again playing Wilson this time playing Mako. I was going first and threw out a Whirling Blade with 4 (yes 4) Boom Booms. My attack didn't get through but I was still off to a good start with the 4 damage from the Boom Booms. Wilson's first turn he played Master of the English Long Sword which is a potentially fatal card for my deck. After I Policed that, I managed to Disarm Wilson. He then put out Under the Color of Authority. With the last special card I would get to play for who knows how long I played a parking garage with the hope that it would force him to play another special card to regain his weapon. Unfortunately for Wilson we never got that far. After losing several extra weapons to hard exertions for defense Wilson scooped. Taking a page from his Big Book of Tough Love Wilson smacked his deck to the ground and left it there on a time out until it learned its lesson. We will see if it learned anything during its time for reflection next time Mako makes an appearance.
The final results were:
1st- Brian
2nd- Wilson
3rd- Chris
4th- Jon
5th- Luke
6th- Cat
7th- Ryan
So the story of another successful tournament at Metro Comics has been unleashed upon the world. Stay tuned for more tales of interest from SB!
