Greetings and welcome,
It's been a few tournaments since I've written a review and here's one that I needed to write.
The tournament had 8 players always good and the following people played the following decks
Cat : Martin Hyde
Jason : Yung Dol Kim
Jon : Luthor
Wilson : Annie Devlin
Ryan : General Katana
Chris : Nefertiri
Carlos : Connor MacLeod
Tony : Slan Quince
My deck consisted of using Season 1 Plots and Disgruntled Mortal to make my opponent run through their deck faster than they wanted and hitting them with Pistols in the center and Master's Attack.
Following up with that and hitting it with a Stalk/The Kill combo it worked a few times and well I will go into detail about that.
Round 1 vs. Ryan
Figured I play Katana first and he's using Hunter cards so you already assume the following: Hunter Prone, Hunter Damage and whatever other direct damage they can muster, however, Ryan played it differently and it was a lot more fun.
We were going back and forth for a bit and then it finally got the hits off the Season 1 Plots making him dump his hand twice, and he kept using Katana's ability to try and get rid of the Situations or Plots and kept hitting the and so that he couldn't make the most of his ability.
It finally came down to him being low enough for me to try and hit the Stalk/The Kill, but he blocked it, then I tried again and he blocked again and that was that, he was at zero and I was at 4, and thus that ended the game.
1 - 0
Game 2 vs. Jason
This game was ZERO fun for both of us in a sense, since the YDK deck is actually mine, I helped him build it and I knew all that cards in the deck. I played the middle attacks to maximize my damage against him and then he finally just ran away when I was still at 16 and he was 0 . . . It's a good thing we're friends or else I would've felt worse.
2 - 0
Game 3 vs. Wilson
Now this was a deck that I wasn't ready for, a lot of damage, not a lot of blocking/dodging on my part and of course him making me prone, so I could do much, I almost decided to just give up the game because there wasn't much I would be able to do since he was at 14 and I was 1, I decided to try the following: Stalk/The Kill and he looked at it, shrugged because he couldn't play a dodge, exerted for a defense and went through attacks and events and that was that . . . Sorry Wilson
3 - 0 Head Shot
Game 4 vs. Carlos
Another fun game, we went through a lot of attacks and a lot of blocks and a lot of special cards that didn't do a lot to each other until I finally hit him with a Master's Attack twice, then hit the Plot Season and finally got out some Disgruntled Mortals making him mill his deck, bringing him down to zero life and finally hitting him with the Stalk/The Kill and taking him out of the game as well securing my win.
4 - 0 Head Shot
So, I win another tournament and get another Quickening - Nefs if they don't play an attack then I can make all mine hidden.
It was a fun tournament and the final results were the following:
Cat: 4 - 0 +6
Wilson: 3 - 1 +1
Carlos: 2 - 2 +3
Ryan: 2 - 2 +3
Chris: 2 - 2 +1
Tony: 2 - 2 +0
Jason: 1 - 3 -2
Jon: 0 - 4 +0
Jon, going 0-4 decided he wanted to be such a giving person and loose so that Jason, our newest player wouldn't go out in a blaze of glory - At least that's what we like to say.
Also, I'd like to thank Metro Entertainment for running the event and of course highlander for getting us the Quickenings . . . we want more
Thanks again,
Cat
