We had in the product (and we held onto a box of each for th event), and 4 of our 6 regulars showed up for our first Season Two Pack Rat event.
Player List
Joe - Mako (worst persona power in draft format ever) featuring Master's Manipulation
Van - Richie Ryan with no real combo but a watcher healer card and a couple other good cards
Josh - Hyde (one of the best persona powers in limited format in my opinion) featuring a host of Master's Cards
Thomas - Nefertiri (this deck was hell to play against) with a Gladius and a collection of support cards for the gladius
First Round Josh and I had a beat down that went nearly to time and left me standing with something like 3 abilitiy when he finally fell. Van on the other hand took a solid beating from Thomas and his Nefertiri deck.
Second Round Josh managed to beat Van, although it was a closer game than his first one against the Nef deck. My Mako stood fairly strong against Nefertiri until I was at the end of my endurance and missed the block on two hidden attacks. Exert for the defense (blowing through my endurance) and miss the block on both -- 9 damage. Guess who won after that.
Final Round Van took another beating as Mako was not falling through the floor boards for Richie this time. An early power blow took him down some to a point where he could not recover. Thomas managed a solid beat down of Hyde as he did not have many Master's cards in his Nef deck.
Winner in his first tournament ever -- Thomas
Reflections from the event. I have a new found respect for Nefertiri -- especially in limited. The same goes for Hyde, but the amount of hidden attacks Nef can do in limited format is just ugly. Also the Hunter: Prone card is obnoxious in Pack Rat. I was just glad he did not get the Hunter Protection card to go with it. That at least gave me a chance to get to my Police card to remove it.
