In an effort to keep using the 1E cards, and spice up the game, we've created some house rules. In addition to these, any of the bugged cards, we don't use either. Please have a look, at let me know what you think.
Highlander expanded rules:
Most recent printing is now in effect. Flashing blades is still an edge, but just for the rapier. The 3rd part of a plot set is now an event. All plots are now Situation: Plots. Surprise attack for the parrying blade is now limited to 1 per turn. Disarm & Prone are dice rolled. No duplicating A&T Headshot and There can be only one: Headhsot, or anything like that. New James Horton is banned New Dirty Trick: Tackle is banned Impressive move: don't draw is banned Renee Delaney is banned Watcher Healer banned nexus or nexus q banned. Simple Mind, added text, sweep during your next sweep phase. Alllies are now considered Mortal or Immortal allies (depending on who they are). Pistols can be played even if you are disarmed. All guards now are titled: Guard, except Kastagirs. Arms & Tactics: Attribute check now reads: 'Discard to add up to 3 to any dice roll you make' Patience version 1 is Banned Dirty Trick:Stop hit is gone.
Immortal Stuff Nefertiri's ability does not work with cards she's played. Immortals are affected by MRP, and none are banned, we'll use Hugh's old persona. Immortals +1's and MCBC's are now considered 1. Xavier can't use his new Poison Gas plot set. Back Away & Dodges are now Evade: Back Away or Evade: Dodge. Methos Live Forever added text: Remove this card from the game. Ducks and Jumps are now Counter: Duck or Counter: Jump Skull helmet is still sig. Hugh: Fast Talk,

I am not quite sure I understand some of what you are saying here. For example - the new James Horton is a bugged card, therefore it should fall under the "no bugged cards" rule you pointed out at the beginning. Disarm and Prone can only BE dice rolled if you arent using bugged cards. Pistols can already be played if you are disarmed, as per the current rules.
Why change all the new plots to Situations and Events? It weakens them greatly. By doing this, Plots remain in the same category as Situations, meaning "Focus", "Police" and other such cards can affect them, as well as thier OWN counter cards, a double whammy.
I can understand the desire to ban certain cards (Renee Delany, Stop Hit, etc etc), I just dont agree with it, but that is a matter of personal opinion.

Well, we looked at it this way; What did 2 E do, why does it work, and do we want to capture that environment?
What 2E looks like it's done is slowed the game down slightly (Hugh Fast Talk madness, Kronos Multi Attack etc don't seem to be a possibility yet). 2E has also toned down the cheese factor. They took away multi attack madness by: toning down the rapier, making multi attack a little harder to do, limiting surprise attack, limiting flashing blade, etc.
Through limiting dodge/backaway, people can now get hit (try playing against Methos stall, it's not that fun, and most of the time you'll lose).
I like what they've done. Kronos was created to deal with multi attack, and draw til you're blue in the face. Currently I think Kim is the only person who can draw multiple cards out of phase.
With this bastardized (Winnipeg) format, it's harder to make a decent multi-attack deck, and now corner case immortals are way more viable. The fun factor is off the scale. I don't think Xavier's new plot set mixes well with the old format, as with Master Plan and Schemer, he can get silly.
Anyhow, to sum it up, this format works quite well, so far keeps things balanced and helps raise up immortals from obscurity to something a lot more effective (also running to hooly ground is a lot more punishing now thank goodness).
Sorry for the poor response here, writing from work...

But, playing 2E-only (bugged) cards in a 1E rules environment was never meant to happen. It sounds like you are ignoring bugs and just piling the whole thing together. Bugged cards can only work properly under pure 2E rules. (Example - you have 2E DT: Tackle as Banned. Well, it shouldn't be part of your environment anyway because it's bugged )

Oops, we're not using any of the bugged cards with the 1E stuff (except Amanda's Persona) anymore. We realized that pretty quick (Amanda's Steal with Master Thief was broken etc).

Your rules SHAFT Annie Devlin her power is useless without the ability to heal or prevent damage thats why I like her she is a hot blooded Irishwoman she takes damage, dishes out damage and heals up when possible. She has to heal up her power requires she take damage to do extra attacks.
And can't you just run a 1e format and a seperate 2e format for tournaments with the respective rules in play?

She has to heal up her power requires she take damage to do extra attacks. Annie doesnt HAVE to take damage to be deadly. By your logic, Annie would also get the shaft in end game since many end game rules prohit the playing of specials and/or healing.

I think he may have meant this road - Quite a suggestive one.. Many people would LIKE to give Annie "the shaft in endgame", i think. Except Russel(l), he says girls are icky.
