With the release of 2nd Ed and all of the drama that went on between the makers of the Raven cards and LM, what is the current status of the cards from these sets for 1st Ed? I've heard every thing from the're all legal to they're all banned to they're all legal except for time and trap cards... So what is it? My personal opinion is that a company that had a poor sense of the game and no sense of game balance put these cards out. Their cards were almost uniformly over powered and lacking in any true feel of the Highlander genre. I hope their all banned out right. Then if Mike wants to use some of the Raven cards that he now has the rights to, he can rework them for 2nd Ed and give them a proper play testing. But that's just my opinion...

Heya!
The OFFICIAL word previously from LM was that the Raven cards (with the exception of Time and Trap cards) are legal for use in Type One tournaments.
However, since today is June 15th and we STILL dont have an official NEXUS (despite the promise), I suppose anything goes when it comes to tourneys since we dont have an official tourney program.

i've heard rumors to the effect that there was NO play testing for Raven expansions. That wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Not really true. I know a few folks who were part of the play testing. The problem was that many of the suggestions for balance were either lessened or ignored.
Some changes were made though. Priceless museum is a good one. I will dig up a picture of the original version. I do have several previous versions of some Raven cards.

I don't have any problems with using most of the cards. There are no current rules for incorporating the Situation Time and the Trap cards. We have been using them in our 1e tournaments and have had no problems. If you need Raven cards check out Thorr store, he has a vast selection, and they are much cheaper than they were originally sold for.

We haven't had problems with them and I've built tons of decks using them. They win and they lose, with nothing broken rearing its head.

As promised, I have made scans of some old Raven prototypes. These are cards that were printed for testing purposes. You'll notice all kinds of crazy things in them. (Card type Mystic for example) It's obvious that these underwent heavy modification to bring them back in line with the game. Also notice that the back of the cards has a black border around it. www.mleccg.com/RavenStuff/Prototypes/

The slaughter of the English language is the best part of these Prototypes.

Interesting. It looks like Trap cards were almost legal, but they decided to consolodate some rules and create a new subtype.

I really liked the picture on the Amanda Cat Burglar card. Most of us butcher the english language at one point or another.
