This is kinda a spinoff from one of the tourney threads where this came up. Why are some immortals not allowed in 1e?
I can understand the ones with gem mechanics, because obviously those won't work. But ones like Amanda and Slan don't seem to need the :2e: symbol. Amanda gives a nice different ability to try with her, while Slan is so weakened that nobody would ever choose to play him unless for some reason he was the only Slan persona they could find.

Here are my most obvious answers...
1) The cards in each edition are designed with a specific persona power in mind. Let's look at Duncan.
Duncan's 1E power allows him to attack where he just blocked. If you look at the 1E Master's Block for him, it is fairly straight-forward. However, the 2E version of Master's Block states that "You may attack to areas you just blocked this turn." This line is unnecessary in 1E, obviously. But it demonstrates that the cards have different assumptions. Because of this, I think that the PTB decided not to introduce new combos of old cards with new persona powers. (Granted, some haven't changed much, like Slan.)
2) There is an intent to keep the personas playing differently in each format.
3) They don't want the new Egg formats to be used with the old eggs since they are based on different theories. (a stretch, but players come up with some pretty strange things)
Just my initial thoughts.

Right, the ones without eggs is what I'm talking about, which basically means Amanda. Being able to play the new Amanda might actually mean that she sees some play in 1e tourneys.

I think from what I have heard was that if an immortal has a first-ed Persona the new persona will not be playable in Type 1. Secondly the old gem/egg format has no real rhyme or reason on many of the cards. In terms of Immortals whose new pesona is better, imagine 2e Xavier in Type 1.

He might actually use plots then, instead of Poison Gas the Situation and Master Tactician.
