True, but you also excise illusionists and aliens.

Connor - still my fav. Duncan- I hated him at first, but he grew on me. Much better swordsman. You could believe he really does practice/study all the time. But personally; Kurgan is bad @$$. Most villains are pale imitations. Too over the top for the sake of being over the top. Kurgan you could believe was a better swordsman, as it was also told/shown. Kell? Only because you were told he had 600 + kills. Richie- hated him too. After he returned he wasn't an annoying little punk anymore. And when he beat the crap out of Carter Whelan... Kronos: Excellent swordsman. Strategist & Tactician. Grayson; Another favorite. Great villain(not a James Horan fan that much- but he made him out to be tough). And the design team did a really good job with the character ;D And for me 'Band of Brothers' is where the show finally got it's look. The Sulphur plant-good location/good villain. Compare it to other episodes- the courthouse/Caleb Coles/etc IMO not as good. But I digress-sorry

as far as swordsmanship goes, yes adrian paul pulls off the swordsman bit better. but i was just watching season one and you know what i noticed? duncan seems to use his sword more like a rapier than a katana. if you look at the pilot episode, connor seems much more skillful in their mock duel.

Even counting Connor's "character development" in the 2nd and 3rd movies, Duncan has far and away the deeper specific background. There is the point that, because of a lack of specific historical points, Connor has more mystery and more badass mystique (like when Wolverine didn't have an origin), but overall I enjoy the larger source for Duncan stories.

Yeah initially Adrian Paul was more of a European Rapier swordsman but favored the Japanese swordfighting techniques and switched schools(disciplines)-so to speak. Per the DVD. So it's easy to see he probably favored using the Katana more as a Rapier.

You guys all make great points on both sides. Duncan, Yes badass. Connor, Yes the same. I have had this discussion with my friends on several occasions. My conclusion. For the series: It really should have picked up with connor after the Kurgan fight. Even if another actor that was found who looked like Lambert. Lets face it he wasn 't lookin top notch in Endgame. Which to me took away from Connor as a charcter. My opinion. The series and movies are not good ones for continuity, but the entertainment value is worth it, except for that debacle between Highlander 1 and 3. As for Duncan getting more screen, yeah he's the man. But Connor is almost 60 years older, and we don't get to see all of his life. So the mystery remains, as it did some ways in the first movie. In a straight up fight (with connor not so depressed) my money would be on him. Duncan however has beheaded a great many powerful immortal. Grayson, Kronos, the Fine young cannabals guy. LOL So in Duncans case is quality Q's over the quantity that we see connor has in Endgame. One last thing. The comic book is seeking to remedy this Connor Duncan thing. Its pretty cool and fills in some gaps. If you don' t mind seeing the story in comic format.

Issue 7 has a new artist & story arc. Maybe you can find at BAM.... But since Steve Geppi controls distribution, I dunno....

then the question is... Whos Better/you're fave... Kurgan or Kell... Kugan never needed help. hell, he took Remierez's head.. Connor was the greatest until he pansied out and decided it would be better to get his head lopped off then gang up on Kell. They've always been pretty close for me though, mainly bcause Duncan, while a weaker character IMO, has had a lot of screen time to fill in those holes.

Duncan by far is better...
Connor always seemed wormy and weak.
Duncan is physically more imposing and a true boyscout, exactly what I like to see in a hero.
'nuff said.

Duncan I guess, but I would like to see them switch villians and see what happens. Kurgan verses Duncan and Kalas verses Conner. I think it would be a good fight.
