Highlander pro is the next edition of Highlander the card game ..a 4th edition if you like. It will reboot the game. There will be starter decks and boosters. It will debut at Gen Con and there will be a kick starter for it The company producing it is WGD games run by Jared Nielsen. Mike Sager is obviously involved. There are various sites on Facebook ..blood of kings and Highlander pro which will give more info. Hope that helps

I have read up on this. Infomation is not very easy to find. A couple of questions...... What is the reasonong of relaunching the game for another edition that is not compatible with the 2nd edition cards? Is the player base big enough to support another edition?

Well...
1) What is the reasoning* of relaunching the game for another edition that is not compatible with the 2nd edition cards? My answer here is speculation, but based on long... long history of facts and experience - Two letters MS - if you don't know what that means I encourage you to look more into the forms or send someone a private message. That said MS wants to make a digital platform and believes the person he is starting 4th addition with can help him achieve that objective.
2) Is the player base big enough to support another edition? Short answer here is unknown. The game is more appealing to type 1 players that never got access to type 2 cards. For simplicity it is going from NFL football (Type 2) to Junior high football (Highlander pro) - that is in no way intended as an insult to Highlander Pro, it just has to do with the speed of the game, cards available, and different effects the game does and doesn't have at this point. That said - personally - Pro is not ready yet. Why? two immortals, start packs are not balanced, few key mechanics they want to introduce have not been introduced, few cards need allot of work, and feedback systems could use ... work. Always for advancement of the game, and will be showing with what product I have at Dragon Con - If you understand type 1 highlander pro is extremely close with some interesting modifications - you could take start decks and interchange and you would be fine (though they are attempting to limit dodges in the game based on pre-game to speed up the game - solid idea). Some persona's you simple could not play or allow their cards to be played if you want to make it fair.
Hope this answered your question.

I know MS very well. Have known and associated with him in the past. He always complained that your opponent should not be able to do anything on your turn (Like Magic the Gathering) and that people that spent a lot of money and bought cards always had an advantage over those that did not. I have had many discussions with him on this subject. Their is always going to be a Mr Suitcase of cards. He wants to make Highlander the game where that is not the case. In the past his has speculated theat only certain Immortals be allowed in ATournament play or certain releases that would restrict the card pool. If you have millions of cards in print and millions of players for your cards that can be done. But that is not this game.By launching the game thru a kickstarter, he is creating a bunch of Mr Suitcases which is his biggest complaint. I guess we will all have to wait and see the Kickstarter and what it contains to see what that have. I have seen the two decks out at gencon and the cards look nice but they are too busy and hard to read the words on them. Hopefully this will improve.

I have heard MS talk of a highlander video gane for years. Using open sourcing where you could fight as Luke Skywalker or Conan or an Immortal. I do not have high hopes for this.

I have heard MS talk of a highlander video gane for years. Using open sourcing where you could fight as Luke Skywalker or Conan or an Immortal. I do not have high hopes for this. You are saying you live in reality... as all of those names you mentioned have legal requirements to use... and we all know those have been acquired legally and no cease and desist have ever been sent warning people not to use images or likeness they have no rights to use... right... The decks at Gen Con are what I am referring to. As issued - playing against each other is extremely... challenging. I demoed a number of games and in one, I saw someone's draw was so bad they had to exert every turn. The ratios are way off. Ginger has noted they have things to help fix this, I hope this is the case and this gets introduced... quickly. However, with limited cards and the ratios it has challenges. Highlander Pro can have a Nitch and get new players. It will take card support and strong feedback loop.
