Requesting some clarification regarding Events and in which phases they resolve.
The Movie Edition Rulebook states the following about Events and their resolution:
"Events cause an effect as soon as they are played but, depending on the kind of event, the effect may not actually resolve until later in your turn, or even in your opponent's turn.
- Events that modify your attack take effect immediately.
- Events that damage your opponent or modify their ability take effect in their Ability Adjustment Phase.
- Events that damage both players take effect twice: once in the Ability Adjustment Phase of the player who played it, then again in the other player's turn.
- If your event forces your opponent to discard, this is a must do effect which they must resolve at the end of their Sweep Phase, before they play any other cards, unless the card they play can stop or alter the discard effect immediately.
- Events that put cards into play, or remove cards already in play, take effect as soon as they are played."
These situations are clear and understandable but there are some cards, however, that are a little ambiguous as to when they would take effect.
For example, Elizabeth Vaughn states: "You may discard up to 6 cards and replace them from your Endurance."
Does Elizabeth Vaughn's ability resolve immediately, during your Draw/Discard Phase, or during your next May Do/Must Do Phase?
For another example, Holy Ground states: "You may only play this card during your Defense Phase. You avoid all Attacks not already successful this turn. All players must discard 4 cards and draw up to their Ability. Your Defense Phase ends. You must skip your Attack Phase this turn."
Does this mean that you immediately discard 4 cards and draw up to your Ability, or does the card drawing effect of Holy Ground resolve during the Draw/Discard Phase, or during a player's next May Do/Must Do Phase?
Example the third, Caught in the Act states: "Target Discards 3 Attacks."
Would the target immediately discard three attacks, would Caught in the Act resolve in their May Do/Must Do Phase, or would they discard the three attacks in their Draw/Discard Phase?
It would seem that the timing in which a Player draws or discards cards is not entirely clear, judging by these three examples. Any clarification would be much appreciated. Thanks!
