Katana Pre-Game (DD-020) UPSIDE: Your first attack this turn may be to areas you just defended regardless of restrictions on the defense played. DOWNSIDE: You cannot take control of your opponent's cards.
Can DD attack anyhow after playing?: Generic Master's Dodge (GS029) The Generic Set Fixed Dodge Text You may ignore any effects played by your opponent which prevent this defense from avoiding multiple attacks. You may not play attacks this turn.
How about through the Shield?: Shield Pre-Game (HtG-276)
You may play this Weapon of Choice with another One-Handed Weapon of Choice. You must use two Weapon of Choice. You may play blocks against Ranged Attacks. Your first attack cannot be played to areas you blocked this turn, regardless of any other effects.
Thanks and HAPPY NEW YEARS!

I would say yes to the Master’s Dodge as the restriction comes from the defense itself. No to the shield, because the restriction comes from the WOC and not the defense itself.
DD’s Katana specifies restriction coming from defense.
However, after reading the Katana, does it allow you to attack to where you just blocked, as the restriction comes from a game mechanic as opposed to text.
Someone please advise.

i would tend to agree with this assessment. but i wanted to ask it out loud. had asked about how this would effect Back Aways ... Steve replied that DD would be ok to make non-ranged attacks.
