As I am watching this video, I cringe. And cringe and cringe some more.
m.youtube.com/watch?v=Bx6li0QfFUU
But, at least it's something.
We need to do a video.
Using pre-set up decks.
Emphasis on phases and basic mechanics.
Use most popular characters with simpler attacks an effects.
I think the kurgan vs kastigir from the first movie is the easiest to do which would bridge the methos of highlander (at least a scene) with the game.
We can even do a short few rounds of back and forth with generic immortals to show the basics (like maybe 3 to 5 rounds or so)
and then do a character vs character for a longer period of time.
Would venture to do Connor versus Kurgan last?
Then, we can do a latest Vs set as free advertisement.
Why is Highlander worth playing?
1. The methos is exciting. Getting to live forever.
2. Who doesn't want to play with swords?
3. If you win tournaments, you win cards not purchaseable from stores which are super useful in game - therefore super collectible.
4. And if we ever get enough players, we could put up a sword for a prize. (this was the biggest draw for me back in the day)
5. The game mechanics mimics well with a real sword fight.
6. Deck construction can mimick your favorite characters from the movies or series.
Not necessarily in this order.
Any ideas for this type of video, please respond to this thread.
When I said 'WE' I mean it. If you want to see this game grow, then WE gotta do something.
Video should be shot straight top-down on the playing area and each card played needs to have its title anounced.
Effects for each card should be anounced the first time a card is played.
Basic phases:
Sweep/reconcile
May do/Must do
Defense
Attack
Ability adjustment
Draw/discard
Main Card types:
Grids - where your main source of attack and defense cards come from
Special cards - Event, Situation, Plot, Location
Edge cards - pink hand icon, helping cards which do not necessarily have any play restrictions unless written on the card itself.
Illusions - cards which can only played if exposed during an exertion and one per exertion.
Basic card play:
Must play at least one non-edge card per turn Or make an exertion.
Ability is your life points - which happens to be your hand size (starting hand size)
Endurance is your deck of undrawn cards.
You win the game when:
Your opponent ends their defense phase with zero life or less (and reminder that Ability adjustment comes after the defence phase, and after the attack phase)
OR
Your opponent ends their defence phase without their head.
Exhaustion:
Every time you draw the last card drom your endurance, you exhaust and lose 5 life (reminder, this is could be after your ability adjustment phase).
The fight still continues.
Ok. I'll add more here as I have time.
Needs grids breakdown and how each is played. Extra mention of 'attack back thru'
