Omaha is centrally located but other then Highlander it is not exactly overflowing with amenities. Also I do not know about how well its airports is situated for those farther away, I was thinking St Luis, Chicago, and Denver as the most likely Cities. It would be nice if this was a vacation for all of us not just a get together for Highlander. But saying that Omaha should be on the table because it does have a player base and then we would have a place guaranteed for any organised play. To me it comes down to the players on the coasts, where are you guys willing to go? Remember we have a whole year to prepare this. Amenities for Omaha NE: Omaha has the top rated zoo in the country, and is within the top 5 in the world. Omaha has the "historic old market district" which is actually kinda neat but it just a downtown district for shopping with a park next to it. Omaha has like a million golf courses if that's your thing. Several large arcades... but yea we're all adults. (physically at least) A small amusement park. Omaha hosts the CWS every year, so if that's your thing we can always set up for that too, hotel rooms are at a premium then though. Tons of theater, in fact if we schedule it right the University of Nebraska does free Shakespear plays during portions of the summer. A few museums, The Joslyn Art Museum being my personal favorite, Durham is good unless you get sick of trains and the whole "Manifest Destiny" portion of American History. Lauritzen Gardens is pretty. A couple decent (i've been told) casinos near by and its airport is literally in the city.

All great things and it is an easy drive for me. But why would you guys in Omaha want to have a small vacation in Omaha? I mean heck I could have said Kansas City, since it fits all the criteria as well. But why would I want to have a vacation in my own town?

If we want to make this a thing, I will start looking in to the details. GenCon has become a no-go for a lot of players, if we could get people to attend a Highlander-only event that was MUCH cheaper than GenCon, I'd be all for it.

It's looking doubtful that I can make Gencon this year, and if I do I am going to want to go "sampler-platter" style and play a variety of things.

If the UK is an option, how about Alternate Worlds in Australia. We can host over 100 players! Of course, there is a little bit of travel involved for most players.

Put up a sword for the winner. More Ppl will show. Doesnt have to be something 'super' nice. Just needs to look ok n the sentimental value will draw ppl there. Can even put a small fee for the 'big' tourney tk help subsidize the fee for the sword. The old ways of promotion should still work.
