Sorry guys, I play HL so infrequently (but that's about to CHANGE - another story) So I'm unsure of the rules on some of the dodges
The last defense is the text which is activated normally (Evade - lose attack or only make ranged attacks) What about the cards which restrict you from doing X if you play the card(like below)
Sean Burns : Negotiate : Dodge : You cannot play an attack this turn. Your Maximum Hand Size cannot be altered this turn. Does the text kick in as a cost of playing the card? Or can you still play an attack if you don't play this as your last defense?
Watcher : Dodge (full grid): You may only play this card if you do not play a Special Card that is not a Watcher or Hunter during your turn. can you still play a special other than watcher or hunter if you don't play this as your last defense?
Evade : Escape HS3-036 (Generic) Evade : Escape You may only play this defense if you do not play a Special Card during your turn. Skip your Attack Phase this turn.
Felice Martin: Evade : Dodge : Duck : You may not play an upper attack this turn.
Thanks

I think that what ever the text is of the last defense you play is the only restriction to what you can do.
