Hi all
Welcome to the next instalment of the persona profile. The gems part of the site has gone so I wont be able to use them in this report. I thought I would look at Graham Ashe
OK lets get started
M 7 A 15 S 15 T 15 E 12 R 15
persona power during your turn, you may choose the text of one gridded defense your opponent has in play to be nullified.
This is possibly one of the weakest persona powers I've seen - definitely lowest tier. The gem assignment is interesting - totally balanced which again is not great for attribute checks etc. The only good thing is the master limit of 7
Well with an awful persona power let's hope the persona specifics make up for it..so what do we have
Alertness Edge sig 3 AVC001 (think it should be 17) 1 reason
Play during your defense phase. Your blocks can defend attacks that are unblockable. Your dodges can avoid attacks that are undodgeable. If you only play one defense this turn, you may play an additional attack from your hand.
Versatile and better than a normal alertness. As alertness is pretty much staple in most decks this is a good acquisition
Distract dodge R6 AVCO18 1 agility
XXO or OXX
XXO or OXX
XXO or OXX
Choose one grid. Your first attack cannot be a power blow or hidden attack
Again not bad restrictions on attacking make it a bit weaker than other distracts for other immies.
End of innocence Plot S2 AVCO19 1 reason
During your may do /must do phase choose one weapon of choice in play. If it is your opponent's you gain the upside of the weapon. If it is yours, your opponent gains the downside of the weapon.
I really like this card. It is a very clever design. Your whole deck can be built around this I think ...yeas the best card IMHO that Ashe has.
Lashing Attack:1 AVCO20 1 strength
OXO
OXO
OXO
During your may do/ must do phase you may place this card on top of your endurance. This attack cannot be a power blow.
meh OK a slash type attack but I think you will only be putting this on top of your endurance in rare circumstances (unless you are playing with something like a Kern Q)
Master's attack - attack s2 AVCO 21 1 Master 2 x strength
This attack duplicates an attack your opponent played last turn. Any cards played with that attack are also duplicated. You may not play any cards in conjunction with this attack
I am not a big fan of cards that rely on your opponent doing things. It also takes up 2 master slots if you use the maximum restriction number of 2 for this card. Not for me. Never used Richie's from type 1 either.
Master's block block - S2 ACCO22 1 master 2 x toughness
You may attack to areas just blocked. If you played alertness this turn you may nullify the text of one card played in conjunction with an attack played by your opponent last turn
What is there to not like about a master's block. The added boost of alertness is good also.
Philosophy of life object hilt S2 AVCO23 1 empathy
You may only play or put into play this card if you are using the Swiss long sword weapon of choice. Once per turn when making an exertion for an attack or defense, you may instead make the exertion from your opponent's endurance. You may play any legal attack or defense from that exertion.
Like this card. Burns cards from your opponent. Think I would be more likely to use it to search for an attack though. This definitely has potential
Trip event 4 AVCO24 1 empathy
Event
Remove one standing defense your opponent has in play
Burn
If you make an exertion for an attack this turn, choose one attack from the exertion, your opponent must burn 3 cards to play a defense against that attack.
This has excellent synergy with Philosophy of life..... I see a combo coming on!
Summary
OK I think there are 2 cards that stand out End of innocence and philosophy of life. I think there are two ways to go with Ashe ..the straightforward way go with philosophy of life with swiss long sword or take a real punt and platy with an obscure weapon of choice and really hurt your opponent with its downside. One of the most brutal downsides of a WoC is chainsaw to make your opponent exert when playing a dodge .....that would be fun ...Amanda chainsaw deck anyone (cheers Bill!!!!!)
Anyway I am going for the straightforward approach here and going for a burn deck

1 x Nexus HTGP-04 1 x R
Deck size 54
M = 6 A = 15 S = 4 T = 18 E = 15 R = 8
Strategy
1. Turn 1 Put Philosophy of life into play
2. Every turn exert for an attack off your opponent's endurance - increase the exertion using Master's endurance, inner strength etc.
3. Avery will also make your opponent exert.
4. If all goes to plan your opponent will be burning cards very quickly.
Overall
Ashe really hasn't got a lot - a poor persona power and not great support cards. He is competitive at a lower tier and low middle tier but higher than that he is for a tough time. In order to win he needs time to get his strategy up and running so a high speed deck will give him a real hard time.
Overall I will give him a 4.5
Hope you all enjoy...some more strategy perhaps...?
