Although I did have some cards a decade or so ago, I played it little enough to still consider me a complete newbie at the game. I just got my hands on some cards again and went through them and the rules. I'm sure I'll have more questions but one is in my head now so I want to ask it before I forget.
When you play "Head Shot" you have to make an Exertion. Does the Upper Attack have to come from that Exertion or is the Exertion merely a cost? If it is just a cost, could you still play "Head Shot" and make an Exertion to get the Upper Attack (and would you have to make a second Exertion to pay for it)?
I'm likely over thinking this one but just want to be clear.
Also, does anyone know where I can find myself a Richie Ryan Persona (or Xavier St. Cloud... I may never find my old one, if it wasn't tossed)?
Thanks in advance.

Are you talking about the 'Head Shot' event? It's been awhile since I went thru my type 1 stuff but I don't recall one saying you had to make an exertion. If you mean making the attack a power blow (for the use of the exertion) the event makes the attack a PB, and you may exert after playing the HS to find an appropriate attack if you don't have one in hand. As for the Persona cards, if you message Dallis (dbaker) he may have one or two lying around. If I can find my cache of T1 I'll send you a couple.

Where are you located? As far as your ?s event head shot can be played with any upper attack that can be a head shot. So basically any red grid attack unless it states it can't be a head shot or power blow. And only the gold ones that state they can be a head shot. As far as type 1 cards dbaker or thorr are your best bets I will try to locate my type one stuff I know I have tons of those personas as they were the first set.

Worst case scenario, TV 1 booster boxes are about 5 bucks on Ebay.

Wow, thanks for the fast replies.
First of all, I have no idea why I thought an Exertion needed to be made for the Head Shot. I swear it said that. I must've been more tired than I thought when I went through the cards last night. Chances are I read it on something just before or after I read the Head Shot and it got blurred in my memory. But thanks for the answers and information about playing the attacks. Good stuff.
As for the cards, thanks to both of you for offering to see if you have any extras. I went to the online store of dbaker but couldn't see any of the premiere set personas there. Maybe I'll try contacting thorr but maybe I should wait to see if either of you have the extra cards. I don't want to be some weirdo coming out of the blue asking for cards to a guy who I've never interacted with.
The only personas I have are Connor, Amanda, Luther and Slan (though I only have two cards for Slan so not much of a deck to be made there). Plus I have an old Xavier somewhere though he may be gone for good at this point in time. So Richie and Xavier are the two I'm really trying to get but of course if anyone has a Duncan MacLeod they wouldn't mind parting with, it wouldn't hurt to have him there to use his stack of specials I have.
To the question of where I'm located: I'm in Japan, the land of katanas and sorcerers with the power of illusion. This makes ordering even small boxes of boosters and such a problem because the shipping costs for them are astronomical due to their weight. So even if I'm lucky enough to find a box for $5 or so, the shipping can be $30 or more. That pretty much ruins the excitement of finding a bargain. As much as I'd like to get more boosters, especially from expansions to get Kalas, it's much easier to get single cards if I can find them since they can fit in envelopes and travel at dirt cheap prices.
So if you guys are able to find any of the cards I'm looking for, that would really help me out. Let me know what I need to do and hopefully we can work out a deal.
Thanks.

Thanks, freelancer. I replied to your message.
Thinking about my question, maybe I was really thinking about normal Power Blows, not Head Shots. So basically if I want an attack to be a Power Blow I use an Exertion and just draw and discard five cards. I wouldn't actually use them, right? They're just paying for the Power Blow.
If that's the case, then I couldn't just pull an attack for the Power Blow from the Exertion, right?
I'll figure things out sooner or later...

You don't actually draw cards for an exertion, you 'overturn' 5 cards, or whatever the size of the exertion would be. There are effects that can not only alter the exertion size but allow you to play or take cards from the exertion, but the cards don't mingle with your hand unless a card effect allows them to. And your exertions are for a specific purpose, you can't exert to make a power blow and an attack with the same exertion, again unless a card effect allows it. Mostly in 2ED you'll find effects which allow the above mentioned circumstances, my 1 ED stuff has been in boxes for 10 years and I really don't recall specific T1 deck tech. BTW, occasionaly some sellers on Ebay have Collector's Editions of TV 1, 1 of each card in a higher rez print format with a bonus Q, you might want to keep an eye open for that. Almost all T1 stuff is dirt cheap, but I understand shipping to Japan may not be.

When Thunder Castle tanked most of my excess 1 ED stuff was sold off/given away/proxied to make Magic card decks/ burned in lieu of Duraflame logs, but if you can make a list of specific cards, post it and maybe if you are willing to send a self addressed postage paid envelope or bubble mailer some of the people here could just send you stuff. I'm not sure if its a viable option as there may be Customs forms to fill out, but you may want to check it out. I'm sure the players here (including me) would rather see their unwanted cards go to someone with use for them, instead of taking up closet space.
Just a thought...

Thank you again for the explanation.
Also thanks for the suggestion. It is a good idea and there shouldn't be any customs forms to fill out if it's just some cards (or a very basic form at the worst). Japan's not overly strict when it comes to receiving even large packages through the mail. I think I've only ever had about 3 or 4 packages opened by customs over the years and all it ever did was slow the package down a day or so from reaching me. So I don't think a small bubble mailer would even be a blip on their radar.
The only problem I can think of is how I would get an envelope with the correct amount of US (or whichever country) postage to the sender from Japan.
I'll look for a card list to know what I'm actually missing but it's not that I'm trying to complete the set or anything. I just want to have some playable decks featuring the Immortals I like. The only cards I have are a few starter decks from the original premiere so I'll never have any really amazing decks to play, but it's just for fun.
Really all I'm looking for is Richie and Xavier (and if the fates shine on me, Duncan too). Plus I suppose some of their character-specific cards (which I'd have to look up to see what I'm missing). But I don't need everything for each character, I just want them to be playable.
Aside from that, the only thing I'd really love to have but isn't in the premiere is Kalas and any associated cards. --Which leads me to an off-topic question: Does anyone know if Adrian Paul ever gave details as to why he did not get along with David Robb? I've always been curious.
Anyhow, thanks again for the suggestion. I'll look for a card list to post specifics but, as I said, my only goal is to play as the characters I love.

Never knew they didn't get along. Most of these actors are raging egomaniacs, probably something like that. Always liked Kalas, thought D/P did a good job with his backstory.

This is a episode review from season 3
• "Finale (1)," AKA "Duncan's Friends go Haywire" Let's see, who's in this episode? Roland Gift, Elizabeth Gracen, Peter Wingfield…a veritable who's who of popular Highlander actors. We see them all in slightly different lights. Amanda tries to take on Kalas just to spare Duncan, Xavier is a bit less polished and Moor nasty, Methos is ineffective. Joe tries to murder an innocent woman. It goes badly for everyone but Kalas. Kalas sets up a truly devilish conundrum, and you get a real sense that the Immortal world is about to be upset. Through tone, tension, and acting, this one is a worthwhile finale. In the commentary, Adrian Paul reveals that he and David Robb didn't get along, which is the kind of stuff a commentary is supposed to reveal.

Hmm, ok time to turn the commentry feature on when I watch some of the dvd's. I knew AP didn't care much for Lisa Howard and his romantic scenes with her were awkward, and it showed, but the dvd extras I usually skip.

I know in the video commentary for the episode, AP basically just says that there were only a couple actors over the years of the series that he didn't get along with and David Robb was one of them. The way he emotes while saying it makes me think that there might be a good story involved as to why but I've never heard any details.
I can't recall if I listened to the entire audio commentary for the episode so maybe it's in there but I don't think so.

Another question: Can you make an Exertion to make a hidden attack a Power Blow? If so and the defender exerts to block the hidden attack only to find that he played the wrong block, can he not make a second exertion to find a correct block?
