Hello, I have a few questions about exertions I did not see clarified in the rule book.
I have 3 card in my endurance and I have to exert. Do I:
A) Not exert since not having enough cards to satisfy it in my endurance prevents me from doing so?
B) Burn the top three, then shuffle, then finish the exertion by burning off the top two? If this was to search for a defence would I pull any candidate from the top 3 until I was finished the exertion in case I found nothing better ie. an block to stop a power blow but maybe there's a dodge in what will become the last two cards after the reshuffle?
Another scenario: I have 10 left in the endurance; can I or can I not play Kurgan's Bloodlust (15 card exertion play all the non-special attacks from it -4 ability)? If so would I proceed as described in B above and loose a hefty 9 ability?
Soft exertions: I have (again) 3 cards left and must do a soft exertion, A or B? Also, if B then would I flip one card, note the gem, put it on the bottom and do the next, etc. OR do exertion cards need to be held together as a group neither on top or on the bottom of the endurance nor in the discard pile, an "exertion zone" if you will, while the gems are counted before being placed in the appropriate order on the bottom of the endurance?
I hope this makes sense, thanks for any help you can provide.

You flip the top 3, leave them out, shuffle, then flip the other two. If you're searching for a defense it wouldn't be until you flipped the last card that you'd have to choose which to use.

You flip the top 3, leave them out, shuffle, then flip the other two. If you're searching for a defense it wouldn't be until you flipped the last card that you'd have to choose which to use. Exactly correct. However, if you are playing 1ed Kastagir, you can exert for a defense or an attack 1 card at a time.

Also, your Kurgan Bloodlust scenario is correct...you would take the top cards, reshuffle and pull the rest to meet the requirements of the Bloodlust, but lose 9 ability in the process...unless you are using a Khan Q.
