Before I get started, I want to point out that Jon Givetz was the winner of our Type 2 L&M Double Elimination Regional a couple weeks ago. I was not able to attend but I have the full tournament results and will post when I stop working 7 days a week (hopefully soon).
For our sealed regional we used Season 3 and used the packrat format (since I am not aware of another sealed format). We had only 4 players due to the holiday weekend. List of players:
Geoff
Wilson
Me (Chris)
Jon
We immediately ran into a snag when Geoff pulled the sealed killer, Kenny. I posted on the boards, but in a non-dick move, we let him just play with another persona. I will praise and rant about the new set after the results. As per regional rules, this tournament was double elimination.
Round 1:
Me vs. Jon
Geoff vs. Wilson
I pull Mae Ling and the Spear which is probably the best combo other then Methos and the Spear. I pull 4 back aways which makes my deck solid but my rares are on the low end. I win with Jon because he has almost no dodges.
I defeat Jon
Wilson defeats Geoff
Round 2:
Wilson vs Me
Jon vs Geoff
Wilson immediately disarms me and does 4 quick points as I scramble to recover my weapon. The slippery slope take effect and Wilson headshots me when I was at 0 endurance to ensure that we do not meet again.
Wilson defeats Chris via headshot
Jon defeats Geoff via headshot
Final round
Wilson vs Jon
Wilson loses ground early to Jon, but comes back to win via Headshot.
Your new Southwest Regional Champion - Wilson Fisher (heaven help us all).
Thanks to Metro Entertainment for running such a high quality event!!!
Thoughts on Season 3
I love the high quality of cards in Season 3. Playtesters and design team should get mad props here. Giving support to older characters is such a must and I am glad that they are getting it in Season 3. I hope this trend continues.
Card stock, numerous errors in card text, and image quality once again prove to be the bane of this card game. If I am paying 3.99 a pack I demand a high quality product that Highlander is not delivering on. How friggin hard is it to look at a card and then look at it again to ensure there are no mistakes. Give me the job...I promise that it will be done right. Yeah, I am throwing down that gauntlet. I also want to point out that I obviously am invested emotionally and financially in this game. Please don't take my comments as anything more then wanting this game to grow and prosper.
Hopefully this won't be a 6 page thread again...
Take care,
Chris
