I know that I was able to order it from a reputable on line store and it came professionally packaged and prepared. It was region zero and the cover and menus were all in Russian. If I had heard even the rumor of illegality about the video I wouldn’t have bought it. And since I own 2 of all the other movies, I will of course be buying it when the American release comes out…
If the mere discussion of its existence and my ownership of the Russian release violate the not talking about it policy (which have assumed applied only to the plot of the movie) please accept my apologies and delete my post.

I wouldn't think that this violates the nature of the ban... This is only available in a Region 0 version, then? If it hasn't been released in the US, I would think that might indicate something about the agreement between the distributors and Panzer/Davis...

I have only heard of it in region 0 in the states. A friend of mine in the Netherlands mentioned that they had received a disc that was region 5 that was apparently incompatible with their players.

United States (North American, actually) releases are almost always region 1. You said yourself that the cover was in Russian... not usually associated with a North American release. This site www.hometheaterinfo.com/dvd3.htm seems to indicate that "region zero" is simply a way of saying "not regionally flagged." Russia is usually Region 5. A lot of pirated disks are unflagged or "region zero." I know quite a few guys who got fairly professionally produced pirate DVDs in Iraq. Not saying yours isn't legal, as there was a Russian release, but I don't know for sure. Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highlander:_The_Source backs up your claim that it was not illegal for this movie to be released in Russia, for what it's worth (which might not be much, since it's Wikipedia). It still only indicates a Russian release and many fans are waiting to see the "official" version of the movie (the Lionsgate US release scheduled for September). It still makes a bit of sense for them to stem discussion of the movie (plot and whatnot) until its official release. At the very least, to prevent spoilers to those of us who refuse to know about it until September (yes, I scrolled past the plot elements of the Wikipedia entry).

Let's see... I am guessing BECAUSE YOU SHOULD POST TRAILERS BEFORE A MOVIE'S RELEASE in order to attract viewers?
This thread is getting silly folks. Recommend it be locked.

Sorry, I have been gone a lot lately but here is the official stance: Online stores , reputable or not, often sell movie across zones. While not illegal, the film distributors hate it with a passion. Online DVD sellers have had their ebay stores shut down on them for selling DVDs across zones. Dream Works is the most agressive, but others do similar things. So, while you can reference the movie title, actors, and such, discussion of the contents of the film are still off limits. When the the film has been released across all zones, the topic will open.
