If you can play against Geoff and Jeff in California before GenCon, they can give you a good idea of how the decks there are made.
For newer players, I HIGHLY recommend the Cube tournaments at GenCon over the constructed ones, because of negative player experience, like you said. Cube is a level playing field and I think FAR superior to Sealed Deck.
Also, since you have said travel for you isn't out of the question, the MidWest Regionsls here in Kansas City in the spring promises to be a big event again. It is also a good place to see what to expect at GenCon.

Sweet. I might have to ask for some deck advice before that, but I'm down. Job stuff might be moving me to Minneapolis so we'll see where I am in Spring.
When is the KC thing?

Back on Topic -
Do you have any Annie Devlin cards? She is a lot of fun. Build her similiar to how you are building Hugh, plus her persona power is Flashing Blade

I am waiting on the Con people to give me a specific date. As soon as I get one, I am going to post it here because we know people WANT to travel to this and so we want to give as much lead time as possible.

Sure, that makes sense.
I do have a pile of Anne cards. I ended up with with an Arms and Tactics Box, Watcher Chronicles box, and my group got a booster box and starter deck box for the base game from Warlock, so I've got a pile to use.
I'll throw her together hten.

You may want to include a few toolbox-ish Divine Intervention to deal with the Break Glass your opponent will probably have in T1. The deck wasn't as vicious as my old M:tG Sharazhad deck, but still not pleasant to lose to. Not that thrilled with Baggers. I don't like cards that force you to do something you may not want to just to play it. Bring it to Gen Con next year, if I don't have any better idea than my current Jin Ke deck I'd love to play against it.

At least in a couple years you wouldn't have a long trip to L5R worlds.

Sure, I get ya. I just like the Bagger's idea for the idea of multiple attacks.
I'll bring it either way.
And yes, Fantasy Flight is in MN, and not at all in anyway related to the job I'm interviewing for.

Thank you for promoting my favorite Immortal in the game Annie kicks butt, and doesn't get played enough. Indeed she does. Working on revamping my 1ed Annie deck. Back on topic: That Hugh deck sounds like a lot of fun, good luck with it!

So I built an Annie deck (with rapier, but no parrying dagger as I only had one). A Kalas deck with a claymore (surprisingly fun), a Kanwulf with war axe and shield deck, and an Amanda deck focused on Master thief using the St. Anne's Broadsword.
There were all quite fun and simple to build.
Whose a harder immortal to get the hang of?

1st right now (as all my personas are from there). I'm just trying to experiment with deckbuilding and play games. We played a good dozen games with all the decks last week, making tweaks as we went.
