I am gonna work a bit of necromancy here (reviving a long dead thread).
I have noticed we have a number of new people viewing the boards, and chances are some of them may be new or newer players. This thread was started a few years ago and details the basics of Deck Building. I am reviving the thread itself instead of just reposting it because the conversations that sprung up in the thread were also very helpful.
So if you have never read Deck Building 101, I highly recommend it (not just because I wrote it). There are a lot of good tips and maybe a few can help you out.

Been away from the game awhile but my top two tips for any CCG deck building if on a budget that is decks with modest power cards is:
1. Find something you can do well in, in Highlander 2nd Edition that is often guided by the Persona, in my view Richie Ryan is a good choice for those good odd cards you pick up and when not sure look for a solid basic immortal power you like. Then play to your strengths with your immortal working around one makes building up a deck easier. Example if using Richie collect cards from other immortals he can use, if Amanda go for her good cards only over time. Focus on the tactics and options around that one immortal. Go for quality over quantity.
2. Think simple Amanda is good put in Alertness (dodge) and load in Dodges and support cards favoring agility, your not likely going to easily get some cards but MANY of her basic dodges are cheap. Use good cards like Seduce well and don't forget you can splash in some Cheese damage. Others are not much different save some have more balance and others less. Basing a tactic around an immortals innate power(s) are also good. As you gather better cards you can focus more broadly.
