The proboard site is currently undergoing upgrades. You may have noticed that there is VAST number of people showing as logged in and that your read/unread stats have been 'rolled back'. This is apparently due to the upgrade process. The inly really noticeable change I have seen thus far is the "Jump to" link at the top of listings has been changed. Other than that, it seems to be business as usual so far. I am looking for a list of upgrades to see what else may have changed..
(In typeing this I see another change.. There is now a character counter below this box that tells me hoe many characters I have left available to me..)

I found the new feature list -

* New thread sort options, ascending or descending order: o Order by subject o Thread creator o Replies o Views o Post order
* Revamped poll system with many new options: o Ability to select multiple answers o Auto-locking polls at a given time o Ability to hide results until users have voted/poll is locked o Ability to retract votes
* New sub-board permissions: o Ability to have all sub-board posts appear in its parent board o The ability to hide sub-boards when this feature is turned on
* Vastly improved speed on post and member searches: o 1,000 member limit for top posters has been removed o All users can now be displayed in post order, irrespective of forum size o Member lists can be sorted in any order
* Character limit in posts and personal messages has been in been increased from 25,000 to 60,000 characters. * Listing of all users online over the entire day is now available. * Calendar entries displayed at the bottom of the page are now in date order. * Gradients can be automatically generated for your forums colors. * Ability to add a poll to an existing thread. * Ability to set default listing order to a board. * Ability to request a forgotten password by email address has been restored. * Category access can now be granted based on membergroup and/or post count related ranks. * Improved page jump, decreasing load times on large boards/threads/member lists. * Other small software fixes (eg "on Today" now displays as just "Today").

Hey Thorr, I have a question on this subject. Is there anyway that we can get avatars more suited to what we do in the menu? Perhaps a head rolling (HAHA). I was just asking since the painting bird just doesn't do it for me. ;D

I suppose I could, but most of us don't even use avatars. It's just as easy to find your own.
To show how easy it is, I added an avatar to my profile...

I was curious, how do you do it? I am not familiar with the whole URL requirement thing.

Bear in mind I have Dial-up. Sadly, it is all that is available, other than satellite, which is expensive.

Well, the images are not hosted on this site. You will need to have an image that hosted in an accessible place. The URL is the address of the image you want to use.
So, grab your favorite small image, post it on Photobucket and then put the address in the Avatar URL.

I was just messing around with the site since there isn't much going on right now. Well, until some questions are answered at any rate.

One of many free image hosting websites. I imagine that your level of internet savvy has something to do with your dial-up connection...

Hey Thorr, did you put that dot deal over the folders on the home page? I never paid it any attention, but it does one thing I asked you about a while ago. It will be a blue ball (no pun intended) if there are new messages in that forum and a black ball if there is nothing new in that forum. If you did it, thanks. Interesting, very interesting.
