Hi all, I'm a little rusty here and could use a shove in the right direction. I'd like to hold a tournament, and a regional. I expect to get 3-5 players (if we're lucky). I have two questions: 1.) How do I request regional support through the portal (houserennard). 2.) I have an old promo pack, but don't know the number of it. Is there a cross reference between promo pack lot and number (e.g. 15, 16). I don't want to repeat packs if I can help it!
On the collector front, I haven't been able to make it out to Gencon for a bit (kids will do that to you), does anyone have a Methos Gencon promo for trade or sale?
Thanks all,
Hayus.

The real question. Location of the tournament and time!

Winnipeg (Manitoba, Canada) in January or February. Just herding cats at the moment right now. I think I've got the interest, it's going to be getting the schedules to crossover and the stars to align. Figured I'd better get rolling on prize support and see if we can make a go of things.

Hi Hyus,
Are you having difficulty with the houserennard site?
Initially you would need to register then register as a tournament organizer... from there you can register a tournament. There is an email report that goes out for the prize support to be sent out on the appropriate days. Additionally if you use the contact us link it does go straight to the webmaster and the person in charge of sending out the packs. (or it should... i need to double check that) And we can respond directly to you through that medium.
Please though, if there are any issues with the site let me know and I will get them fixed ASAP.

Still working on it. Unfortunately, putting out other fires at the moment. One thing that is making things tough is that many players haven’t kept up with the game. They’d still play though, it’s more of a question of how to get them playing.
Sealed deck is kind of unfulfilling with the personas I have sealed are kind of the scenery munchers. Cube is... not the right venue either at this point.
Has anyone given any thought to putting together about six balanced decks in the same manner as Keyforge? I’m thinking that might be the right solution. If anyone has a link to deck lists of this nature, please link below.
If anyone is interested in working with me to figure out what this should look like, please drop me a line. I’ll post this initiative separately when I get a chance.
What do y’all think?

Someone asked about Keyforge, and I thought that the explanation might add some context to the above post. It is a new card game, but it’s not tradeable and you can’t chenge the contents of your deck. Through the design of the game (as I understand it) the decks are all pretty balanced. So basically, you can pick up any deck and have a 50/50 shot of winning.
As long as you understand the mechanics of the game, you’ll do ok. No building, no meta, no abuse. It’s a sealed system that levels end playing field and just gets people playing.
So in a way, it’s like the VS decks. My goal above would be to create 6-10 decks that are balanced, play against eahother well, and allow the player to just pick up a deck and play with very little understanding of the Meta. A bonus would be to explore the pivotal themes of the game too.

Versus decks should work? Gonna be hard to create that many decks and balance. You might want to provide a few more basic attacks n blocks too? Basically sealed deck.

Yes, that's starting to look like the way things are going to shape up. I *think* the right answer here would be to create the vs. style deck, and supply about 20 staple cards per player so that they can customize their decks (to a point). The perceived problem is that people's favorite immortals (for the most part) aren't in the vs. decks. Further, and please remember, in my town, there's very few players that have kept up (or kept their cards at all), so we're playing out of my pool of cards and I've got to construct these decks. I don't think players in town are going to drop cash on the current vs. decks, especially from the limited use they'd get from them. I think the strategy I'm looking at has the best chance of getting people playing again, and perhaps re-engaging them with the game. That being said, you're totally correct that building balanced decks will be a challenge. There's cards I'd love to play (e.g. the promo 2HBS), but they're too overpowered in a closed system (I think).

yea. if you dont have any active players, any decent combo will just block everyone else out. Versus should be good. use cards from LG1 LG2 Generic1 and Generic2 as your extra cards for drafting? if you start at 10 or 12 life, with 3 life for exhaustion is good format, should maybe avoid every game going to end game.
but how many Versus sets do you have?
